Patty Jenkins Reclaims the Directing Chair for Wonder Woman 2
Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman. Most everyone loved it. Now, she's going to make all the money as director of the sequel . The end. In all seriousness, I am telling you guys the truth. This war of attrition has finally paid off, via The Hollywood Reporter, as Patty Jenkins has been signed on to direct Wonder Woman 2.
I'm sure this is no surprise to any of us. Negative reception had thrown the DCEU into a metaphorical nosedive for many until Jenkins saved the day this summer. While she had spoken at length on her desire to continue Diana's story, neither she nor Warner Bros. had made an official statement. It is interesting to think what took WB so long.
In my mind, Jenkins and her representatives were the ones who took their time. You don't give a studio an undeniable hit like Wonder Woman and not receive leverage in return. No hate from this end if she was pushing for a big payday, which it looks like she got. THR's sources claim that she'll be receiving somewhere in the $7 million to $9 million to direct and co-write with Geoff Johns. A check that large makes her the highest paid female director in Hollywood history.
Wonder Woman 2 is scheduled to jump into theaters on December 13 2019.
Are you excited that Patty Jenkins is returning to the director's chair? Is there someone else you believe can do justice by the character? What do you think about this milestone in the film industry? Lets us hear it. Stay frosty!
